I am beginning to doubt that George served in the US Army during WW I. It is more likely that he served with the Canadian Army.

Bertyle was born 2, 3, 4 on 2 Nov 1912 in Laurel, Jones Co., Mississippi. She died 5, 6 on 3 May 1988 in Pittsburg, Camp Co., Texas. She was buried 7 on 6 May 1988 in Tate Cemetery, Outside Lobelville, Perry Co., Tennessee. Bertyle was counted in a census 8 in 1920 in Sunflower Co., Mississippi. She was counted in a census 9 in 1930 in Jackson, Hinds Co., Mississippi.
Biography: During WW II she worked as a telephone operator on a military installation in Jackson, Mississippi. This is apparently where she met her second husband L. D.
Biography: According to her twin daughters, the family lived outside Lobelville, Tennessee on the Tate family farm on Lost Creek Road in School House Hollow from sometime after the wedding to L.D. Tate until sometime in 1953 when they moved to the old Walker house just outside Hughes Springs, Texas. They moved because of several years of crop failure and the financial failure of the gas station that L. D. and Clyde Poole operated.
